  • Well done Pavilion Choir!

    Wed 22 Nov 2017

Well done to the 21 children who sang at the annual Bournemouth Schools' Music Association Carol Concert last night. It was a magical start to Christmas festivities and the children were excited to take part. They did an excellent job and represented the school brilliantly.

Thanks too to the adults who supported the evening.

  • Remembrance Sunday

    Fri 10 Nov 2017

Thank you to Year 6 for leading such moving Remembrance Services in church this week.

St Mark's Church will be holding a Remembrance Service on Sunday.

Alternatively, here are the details of the Bournemouth town centre memorial service:

"Remembrance Day Services take place all around the country on the second Sunday in November. We hold ours at the Bournemouth War Memorial in the Central Gardens where we lay poppy wreaths as tribute to the memory of those who died in the First and Second World Wars, as well as modern conflicts.

    The Service

The Remembrance Day Service takes place at 10:57am, and the Two Minutes Silence is marked at 11am. The Service lasts for 40 minutes and is then followed by a Wreath Laying Ceremony.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (or their representative) and The Mayor lay the first wreaths followed by Military and civilian organisations and finally the Ex-Service Wreath Layers lay their wreaths together.

Personal tributes may be laid after the Parade has Marched Past and the Civic Party have left the Gardens.

If you would like to attend this Service, you can watch it in Bourne Avenue, an area of the Central Gardens or in Avenue Road. Areas in Bourne Avenue and the Gardens are reserved for wheelchair users.

Orders of Service are distributed so everyone can take part in the Service.

    The Parade

There are two formal parades made up of ex-service men and women and youth organisations.  The Youth Contingent sets off from Exeter Crescent at 10:35am followed by the Adult Contingent. They march through the Town Centre to the War Memorial to take up their positions.

If you would like to take part but are unable to march the whole distance, you can join the Parade as it enters the Gardens, or go straight to the War Memorial.  Seating is available in front of the War Memorial for those unable to stand."
