School Nursing Team

School Nursing teams work with children, families, school staff and other agencies to support the health and well-being of school-age children across Dorset.

Every school in Dorset has a named school nurse, who maintains regular contact with their school to promote healthy lifestyles and offer practical advice, information and support.

School nurses can provide:

health screening and assessments
healthy eating, weight management and physical activity advice
parenting advice
emotional health & well-being support
bed-wetting (enuresis) clinics
hearing tests
parent/carer/school staff drop-in sessions (primary schools only)
1:1 appointments with young people
referrals and/or signposting to other services
ChatHealth text messaging service
NCMP growth measurements in Yr R and Yr 6
training for school staff to deal with emergency epilepsy and allergic reactions
support around safeguarding/child protection issues.

School Nursing Team

S&PA website St Mark's School & Parents Association is run by volunteers, all of whom have an interest in the school, children, grandchildren etc. We are helped enormously by Mrs Burn and Dave Coombes and the office staff, as well as other teachers at various events too. We have lots of email addresses on our mailing list however we always need more help to cover events and would love more people to join in our regular meetings. Parent Zone The Parent Zone was founded in 2005 and has a track record of providing information, support and advice to parents. In recent years, The Parent Zone's work has focused on the impact of digital technologies on families. We provide information, resources and training for parents and those who work with them.

Parent Info Parent Info provides high quality information to parents and carers about their children's wellbeing and resilience. Schools can host the content on their own website and use it in any other ways (in letters to parents etc) that they want.

Think U Know Thinkuknow is an education programme from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command. Since 2006, Thinkuknow has been keeping children and young people safe by providing education about sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. Thinkuknow aims to ensure that everyone has access to this practical information – children, young people, their parents and carers and the professionals who work with them.
