You may have seen recent news coverage of the 'Run a mile' initiative and the positive impacts which it is having on children in Scotland. At St Mark's we are always keen to find ways to get outside and enjoy our beautiful surroundings as well as finding new ways to be fit and active - Run a mile seemed like just the thing for us!
This week we have begun taking a ten minute exercise break , at a time to best fit with each class (it may be a different time each day). Children will be encouraged to take a steady jog, to go as many times around the field as they can in the time.
The regular exercise will have a longer-term positive impact on cardiovascular fitness and short-term benefits of increasing oxygenated blood flow to the brain, to help improve thinking.
