Latest News

Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.

  • Winter Weather Warnings

    Thu 31 Jan 2019

There is currently a yellow weather warning in place for ice and snow Thursday night/Friday morning, with 10cm of snow possible in the south of England.

Should we have to close the school in adverse conditions, such as heavy snow, you will receive a text message as soon as the decision is made and we will also put a notice on our website.

We will endeavour to make a decision as soon as possible but will always put the safety of pupils and staff first.

  • Behaviour survey/policy review

    Fri 25 Jan 2019

We have begun a process of reviewing our behaviour systems and policies this year.

We are trialling removing 'gate time'; children now have time to reflect, with and adult, in the playground. This is working well. We are also promoting more opportunities to 'catch-up' work which has been missed through making the wrong choices during lessons.

We have already sought the views of staff and children. We would now like your thoughts on what works and what could be improved. We have published a three-question survey, which you can access here (works in ChromeSafariFirefox and Edge web browers, click links to download a new browser if you need).

We would welcome your feedback and comments by 14 February 2019.

Please do not make comments about specific children or adults in the free-text box in question 3. If you have specific concerns, please raise them through our concerns/queries/complaints process (see this week's newsletter).

  • Community-use Defibrillator

    Wed 23 Jan 2019

You may have noticed the installation of our new community-use automated external defibrillator on the CCTV pole in the car park. Additional signage is on the way to make it more obvious but it is registered with South Western Ambulance Service Trust’s (SWAST) 999 service, for immediate emergency use by the public and will be in place for a minimum of 4 years. We would like to thank Governors for supporting this initiative.

In partnership with SWAST, we will be hosting a free 90 minute community training event in the near future for anyone to learn how to use one of these defibrillators. Watch this space for a date.

For more information on how to use a defibrillator, please see the British Heart Foundation website.

  • New Year Lunch 10.1.19

    Tue 08 Jan 2019

Happy New Year to you all. On Thursday we will be serving our New Year Lunch of Roast Turkey, which is a replacement for the postponed Christmas Lunch on the last week of term. Anyone who had a meal booked for the Thursday before Christmas will have had this booking automatically transferred to Thursday.

If your child is bringing in a packed lunch they can bring in an individual party lunch to eat in the hall with the rest of the children.

Crackers and party hats will be provided.

Please note that Thursday is NOT a mufti day, and full uniform should be worn.
