Personal Development

At St Mark’s C.E. Primary, we are committed to ensuring the extensive personal development of our pupils. Our carefully planned curriculum enables our pupils have access to a wide, rich set of experiences. We endeavour to foster opportunities for all our pupils to develop their talents and interests.  We rejoice in the children’s successes through opportunity to display these special talents in whole-school worship and events.

Extra-curricular activities:
As a school, we are delighted to be able to offer a diverse range of extra-curricular activities. We offer sporting extra-curricular activities, including football, tennis, karate and athletics. We are proud of our on-going partnership with AFC Bournemouth and are pleased to offer coaching.  In addition to this, we offer clubs to promote mindfulness, such as gardening and art. We are committed to fostering musical talent and we are pleased to offer peripatetic musical lessons, Rock Steady sessions, as well as a very popular Musical Theatre Club.

Educational Visits:

Please refer to our year group curriculum maps for details of our school's educational visits.

Commitment to pupil wellbeing:
Pupil mental health and wellbeing is actively promoted and we proud of our Sandwell Charter Mark. Our pupils use TrickBox to support with regulation of emotions, as well as a whole-school focus on Zones of Regulation through the use of 'Colour Monsters.' Where possible, we seek to make use of outdoor learning opportunities in our picturesque woodland grounds.

Developing pupils’ character:
Our curriculum enables pupils to become well-rounded citizens with excellent morals. Our children recognise the importance of British Values.  Each year, children are given the opportunity to apply to be a School Council Representative. In addition to this, children enjoy the additional responsibility of being a Worship Council Representative.  In Year 6, our children are given the opportunity to apply for special jobs, including Prefects, Sports Ambassadors, Team Captains and Hall Monitors. Moreover, all our Year 6 children fulfil the role of Reception Buddies.
