Welcome

I am proud to welcome you as the Headteacher of St Mark’s C.E. Primary school: a thriving community of 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6, set in picturesque woodland on the border of Bournemouth and Poole, a stone’s throw from the fantastic open space at Slades Farm.

A place where we believe that by Loving God and Serving others, we can all fulfil our potential in Flourishing together.

At St Mark’s we offer a broad and balanced curriculum where we value music, sports and the arts alongside the core subjects of Religious Education, English, maths, science. We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities, as well as wraparound care from 07:30-17:30 Monday to Friday.  Our facilities include a range of play equipment set in a large playground and field, as well as a heated indoor swimming pool, allowing all our children to swim each year. We have recently started a Woodland Explorers curriculum offering, in partnership with Fresh Air Club which will allow all pupils to access a forest school-style provision in the safety of the school grounds.

Superb nurture and ELSA provision, supported by Talbot Village Trust, alongside initiatives such as Trickbox, support mental health, wellbeing and development of emotional resilience in all our pupils.

We have forged strong links with St Mark's Church and work closely together with the clergy team; our children also regularly visit the church both for activities and acts of worship.

St Mark’s has earned a respected reputation for being a caring and supportive Christian community which promotes the inclusion of a diverse range of abilities and needs in a mainstream setting.  A dedicated and committed team of staff, alongside supportive parents, seek to ensure that all children aspire to achieve their very best, regardless of their background.

St Mark’s is a school with a proud heritage of serving families from the local area since 1862, thanks to an ambitious and far-sighted project by the Talbot sisters nearly 165 years ago. Today, we strive to build on their legacy, to provide the very best quality of education and nurturing, to enable all of our learners to flourish as children of God.
